Waterford Lakes
WATERFORD LAKES AREA, EAST ORLANDO, FLORIDA
Location, location, location! The Waterford Lakes Area is ideally located near many Central Florida attractions, amenities, and top employers. An easy commute within 45 minutes may place you at Cocoa Beach, Daytona Beach, Kennedy Space Center, Walt Disney World, and just a 20 minute drive will take you to downtown Orlando, Universal Studios, or the airport.
Waterford Lakes Town Center features such retailers as Super Target, Best Buy, and Barnes & Noble as well as over 100 specialty shops. Across the street from the Town Center is another shopping area called The Towers which is anchored by Home Depot, Kohls and Sports Authority. Shopping, dining, and entertainment made easy.
East Orlando employers include: University of Central Florida, Siemens Westinghouse Power Corp., Lockheed Martin, Florida Hospital East Orlando, Orlando International Airport, and Research Park.
Research Park is home to 9500 employees who work for such companies as the National Center for Simulation, the Naval Air Warfare Center Training Systems Division, Hewitt Associates, Adaptec, Boeing, the Airforce Agency for Modeling and Simulation and the Army Simulation, Training, and Instrumentation Command.
Construction is underway just south of Waterford Lakes in the Lake Nona area. This area is one of the last areas to be developed in Orlando and has been dubbed “Medical City.” Medical City is comprised of: UCF’s College of Medicine and its Biomedical Sciences building, the Burnham Institute, the Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Anderson Orlando Cancer Research Institute and Nemours Children’s Hospital. Waterford Lakes offers lower housing prices with the convenience of care and great employment opportunities, just a short drive away!
Innovation Way is 5.5 mile stretch of roadway that will run from the University of Central Florida area to the Beachline Expressway (SR-528), and then eventually to the Medical City. Both the widening of Alafaya Trail and the construction of the interchange connecting Alafaya Trail and the Beachline have been delayed, but I will continue to post updates on my blog as I receive them.
Waterford Lakes area homes are surrounded by conservation areas, golf courses, and luscious landscaping. You will see people enjoying life; children playing in the neighborhood parks, cyclists, joggers, and people walking their dogs all around. I have lived in the Waterford Lakes area since relocating from England in 2006 and could not be more happy! All in all, the Waterford Lakes Area of Orlando is a great place to live!
